A novel protein drug ASC-4598 for cancer treatment

ASC-4598 protein drug includes 3 functional components: (1) Anti-DSG2 antibody; (2) Heat shock protein 90 (HSP90) blocking peptide; and (3) Switch linker. The mechanism follows this sequence of events; the anti-DSG2 antibody first targets cancer cells with over-expression of DSG2. Matrix metallopeptidase (MMP) in the micro-environment of the cancer cell will then switch on the linker, which will then deliver the HSP90 blocking peptide into the cell and suppress the growth functions of the cancer cell.

In addition to pancreatic cancer (where efficacy has been proved in animal trials), the ASC-4598 protein drug can be used to treat many other types of cancers, including lung cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer, liver cancer, colorectal cancer, and esophageal cancer.
